CASING LEAK REPAIR
SEALMAKER CRS Casing Repair System
SEALMAKER provides a full line of casing repair solutions for nearly any downhole condition to quickly and efficiently restore integrity to failed casing. Applications are designed after thorough analysis of the downhole condition, the leak severity, the leak depth, and the wellbore construction. SEALMAKER CRS can be deployed into the production annulus to repair casing leaks, leaking seal assemblies, and packer leaks.
CRS is a three component system ideally suited for casing leaks. It is based on establishing a bridging mechanism within the leak path followed by an ensuing filtration process which creates a tight crystalline seal within the leak path and into the annulus or leaking formation. It is comprised of the following components; Vortex A, Vortex B, and SEALMAKER.
CRYSTALLIZATION PROCESS
Injection
As Sealmaker CRS exits a casing leak it is exposed to shearing forces within the leak that creates solidification of the composite
Solidification
Solidification occurs from the shearing forces with resultant bridging and creates a base crystalline matrix
Filtration
Permeability of the matrix allows for filtration through the composite, building strength within and exterior to the leak point
Crystallization
Process is complete at the desired working pressure of the system with a permanent seal fully set within and beyond the leak path
DEPLOYMENT
SEALMAKER CRS can be deployed by a number of methods depending on the construction of the production string. In rigless repairs, sliding sleeves can be shifted open to allow circulation in to the leak point or gas lift valves can be configured to allow displacement downhole. In shallow leak instances the chemicals can be bullheaded directly to the leak.
Typical deployment with a rig is to isolate the leak with a bridgeplug set under the leak and then run tubing and packer to the leak depth, spot the chemical to the end of the tubing, set the packer and then squeeze the leak off.
When multiple holes exist over long intervals, the tubing & packer assembly is ran to the bottom of the leak interval, chemical is circulated around the end of the tubing and up the annulus to cover the entire interval, then the packer pulled back above the leak, set, and then the leaks are squeezed.
Activation & Completion
The SEALMAKER CRS remains liquid in the tubing and annulus during the squeezing operation. The CRS shears through the leak path, bridges, undergoes a filtration process and creates a strong crystalline composite cement exterior to the leak point, with no reduction in casing ID. Residual chemicals remaining in the casing and tubing are simply circulated from the wellbore with no drill-out required after the repair.
Performance
The outstanding phyical properties of CRS restores the wellbore to full operational capability. SEALMAKER CRS is totally inert after the reactions are complete and is not affected by H2S or CO2 which results in a long term permanent repair .
Advantages
•No DRILL-OUT after treatment
•Versatile in both low and high leak rate conditions
•Remains liquid until exposed to shearing forces at a leak site
•Can remain indefinitely in a wellbore annulus
•Eliminates the need for a workover rig where wellbore contstruction allows
•Environmentally friendly
•Inhibits corrosion
•Inert after activation providing long term reliability
